Alumni Festival Lecture at 做厙輦⑹
2024 marks the 34th year of the Alumni Festival and an inspiring array of insights and interactions through tours, lectures and panel discussions will be on offer.
We are delighted that three Jesuans will feature in this year's programme with a panel discussion on AI: beyond hype and fear. This will be a participative event for anyone who would like to face fears and explore hopes for individuals, organisations or human society, prompted by whats happening in artificial intelligence. Heba Bevan (2011, Engineering), Douglas Board (1975, Maths) and Nick Chatrath (1993, Management Studies) are three leaders whose achievements encompass creating an award-winning tech trailblazer, advising top leaders, studying mediaeval Islamic history and writing satirical novels offer glimpses into a remarkable future. Participants will have the option to share anonymously some information in advance about themselves and AI, so that the event can begin with a sense of who are we in the room. Heba will then face into the fears AI can create; Nick will suggest how organisations can get return on their AI investment; while Douglas will ponder AIs impact on the (already problematic) relationship between humans and organisations. In the second half, the conversation will be driven by those who are present.
This event will be held in the Frankopan Hall at 做厙輦⑹ on the afternoon of Saturday 28 September. Booking is now open. For further information and to book where you can also view some of the recorded events from the 2023 Festival.
